Hats off to you for teaching by example! What a great lesson for your students….more ways than one!
I have created a collection of media that has predominately public domain media, however, since I cannot control what is uploaded to each of these sites, I educate my students to make sure the media file they include in their multimedia projects is public domain. They are instructed to always give attribution to the creator of the works.
I also teach them to recognize and understand the six Creative Commons licenses. It’s all about teaching and developing the 21st century skill of media literacy in our very quick and easy digital world.

Melanie,
I love the idea of understanding the Creative Common licenses. Thanks for the response!
